The Process of Junking Your Car
Have you ever been in a situation where you have a lot of things lying around the house that you don’t choose and you just want to sell, dump or give it away? In such cases, you perform this purge on your belongings so that you only remain with what you need and use. This is most probably the reason why people have garage sales. There are however certain things that require little bit more attention to get rid of. Imagine that old car that you have in your garage taking up space that you don’t drive it at all. It is easy to overlook it and imagine that no one is willing to buy such a car but that is where you go wrong. The truth is that several people in mostly mechanics are usually interested in them and can easily put to use what you don’t find valuable anymore. Finding dealers to buy your junk car is easy, you only need to make sure that you have prepared adequately for the sale. The only concern here is how to prepare your car before you can dispose it off as junk.
First order of business is to remove all personal belongings from that junk car. The fact that you don’t use your car anymore does not mean that there are no personal and valuable things that may have been left in there. This means that you have to perform a thorough inspection of your car before handing it over to the dealers. It wouldn’t be a surprise to find things like insurance cards and jewelry under the seats and other hidden places.
Now, your car might be very old but it still could contain some parts that are available and that you would need to take out. In case you don’t intend to keep these parts, you could always sell them separately and they are sure to fetch a good price. Things like batteries, alternators, wheels, radio systems and starter motors are some of the valuable parts that you could sell separately. The other thing is to ensure that you get all the paperwork done and ready with documents proving that you’re the legal owner of the car you’re selling. When you have all the titles and documents ready, transferring ownership becomes very easy. The next pain is to make sure that you have removed all the license plates and also cancel any policies that you may have taken as insurance for the car.
